Installing Starter Motor

I'm going to have a friend of mine put a new starter on my 92 CV this week. He's put on a number of starters but never on this type of car. So, what is to be expected?...Is it very difficult to do, where is the starter even located?...That may sound like a stupid question but I've only had the car a few months and its been in the garage most of that time. Its a project, so I haven't really been looking around up under to find out where everything is. Any advice???

Thanks

Re: Installing Starter Motor

I know that on the 95-97 you need to put a ratchet and a 14" extension through the passenger side front wheel well to get at 2 of the bolts but I am not positive on the 92's.

Re: Installing Starter Motor

If it has never been off, there are 3 bolts that hold it in place. Two of them are fairly easy to get to. The third is on top behind the solenoid. We usually use a torx driver and remove the solenoid and the third bolt is a lot easier to remove. The starter is located on the passenger rear of the motor.

Re: Installing Starter Motor

Early 92 CV, MG used the same starter that came in the 91 Town Car which was a 2 bolt. You can run into both the 2 and 3 bolt staters on that year.
