Diode = 5 - 20 HP ?!

I saw a Timing Management System selling on Ebay that claims an increase of 5 - 20 HP. It's gotton many user reviews stating that it performed well, but the only complaint was that they payed $5 for a $.50 diode. My Question is this: What is it, Does it work, and how do I do it? I figured you guys were the best ones to ask, and thanks again for the help.

Yeah I saw that too and being a newcomer to the 240sx I was curious.

Anyone know about this?

all this is is a transistor from radio shack.. its a lot cheaper there, get a bunch of them for .99

here's the article
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...ricker_mod.htm

i had it in my car and it definately added some power and took away lag, but since i added the injen. im getting a gtech in the mail tomorrow, i'll test it out here and let you guys know how good it is with and without.

its right between the main intake tubing and the air filter.

i attached a pic of my car, where it would normally plug in (where the black tape is)

just follow the link above, its kinda like that. you unplug it and put the transistor in the connector that goes into the computer. you're trying to fool the car's computer into thinking cooler air is coming in.

i hooked mine back up to how it is normally w/o the transistor, because i have a cold air extension and i think that it may work better without it. but if you dont have an extension you should get at least 6hp out of this, if not more.

here's another pic of it before i installed the injen

its just to the left of the air filter box, its the little plug that plugs in to the maf sensor. unplug it from the box and then plug in the transistor.

another easy hp gain is to remove the y-pipe and air box resonator if you have a stock intake system. another 4-5 hp gain is possible.

so with this and the transistor it should easily add 10hp. also get a k&n filter. for the stock air box. the k&n cone isn't good unless you have the extension because it sucks up hotter air then the air box.

yeah I may give this diode thing a try. so far I have only done k&n air intake, 2.25 pipe upgrade to dynomax exhaust and an asp underdrive pulley and each upgrade has has noticible power effects. so one more little bump in hp can't hurt anything

hey all,

take a look at the attached pic, i tried to explain my engine a lil. yes ghost, that wiring is for my sound system. i love how it matches the intake with it being red! yay! ... i love red.

the gtech thing is a p.o.s. -- i tried it, and i came up with one 8.9, one 8.5, and one 8.49.... no way its that low. i killed a souped up honda that ran a 7.5 so i'm around there... it's about 1 second off, and for 1/4 its about 1.5 sec off. my bro also tried it on his volvo turbo t-5r, which runs a 6.6 stock for an auto, and he came up with a 7.5. and he has a k&n filter.... ahh, no way. that thing is off. dont buy it people its a waste of $$$.

the iat mod is worth a try, just see how it goes and test out your times. leave it in for a few days tho, sometimes it takes a while for your car's computer to adjust the air/fuel ratio thing.

also, here's a pic of how my car looks on exterior.

how u guys like it? i just converted to single wiper, it helps all those ricer honda guys and mustangs know that i like to race. stands out a lil... and looks kinda cool.

im getting amber/clear zenki turning lites from japan in a few days... im praying to god they dont come to me with that SARS virus... arg.

also if you look at the link in my sig, im going back to those gunmetal rims. only thing is that two of the tires blew, so im putting those 205's on the front and getting nice phat 235's for the back. also dropping it 2" next week with coilovers and new struts.

ok, dont do this mod if you have a cold air intake

if you have stock piping it will work well.
