1981 280zx Fuel cell or new sending

Should I replace the sending unit or mount in a fuel cell. I wory a little about the triple Mikuni's I have. The cost of the sending unit maybe about $250 while I can get a new/used fuel cell for about $100. and then plumb it in and weld it in for another $150 or so.
