Unhappy Help! Car Cranks But Won't Start, Again!!!

Hey, car wont start, again. I had this problem a month ago and I got a new battery and new spark plugs to fix it, it didnt work apparently.. I also have a distributor cap thats only a year old, so I'm pretty sure it's not any of those things. Like it says, my car will crank, just not turn-over. BTW, my car was fine until two days ago, which I was on vacation for a week, and when I came back, it was having starting problems. SO PLEASE HELP ME! Just give me something to test, cause its my only vehicle. What else could it be? I do have gas, FYI. Thanx, PLZZ help.

If it's really hot around you, i would guess a main relay. If it starts at night when it's cooler out that would give it away. Otherwise either an ignitor or the coil went bad.

use your haynes manual to find the main relay, under the left side corner off the dash. unhook the connector and remove it from the car.Carefully remove the plastic cover on the relay, that will show you a circuit board with 20 or so soldered point on it.Carefully take a solder gun and heat each one of those points up and drip a tiny amount solder on them, that will re-attach any connections that break loose in the heat.I have to repair one tomm. for my cousin so it will be fresh in my mind tomm night if this doesnt help.

Well, I just tried it at 9 pm and it worked, but not the first try. I did it a second time with the accelerator pressed in half way and then it started right up. So, does this still make it the main relay or is it a fuel problem? Appreciate the help gunmen01, screw the rest of you who chose not to help j/k.

Check your ECU and see it it spitting out any codes. If you have accummulted a couple of them, clear the ECU by removing the HAZARD fuse from the main box under the hood for 10 seconds. Try to restart it and see what new codes you get.

I just had an issue exactly like yours but turns out I was gettinga code 14 and cleaning the connectors on my fuel injectors cleared it right up.

Chances are if you're getting a code, then you have a specific place to look at, but if you get no code at all and the bottom of your throttle body is dry, then you may have clogged injectors. Let me know if you get any codes.

How do I check my ECU? Where is it at? I've never done that before, so I have no idea where its at. I'm a bit slow :frog:

The ECU s located in the floor under the carpet on the passenger side under your glove box area. Just peel the carpet back and you'll be looking at a rectangular silver box with 3 wiring harnesses coming out of it. The LED in the middle will flash codes(count the flashes) with breaks inbetween individual codes. The key has to be to the ON position fo this to work. If you have codes, first clear them using the method I described earlier and try to start it again. Should there be a problem detected by the ECU, it will generate a code or multiple codes.

HMMM.....No Codes, No Good?

Thanx man, I just checked the ecu and I didnt have any led blinks except for the intial one blink when the car was turned ON. So what does this mean? Also, call me super stupid, but what does the main relay look like? I dont wanna unplug and take out something I'm not suppose to. The main relay is probly the problem right, since there were no codes?

No codes is probably a good thing. You still know you have a problem, but it's a little more vague now. The main relay is a possibility if it only starts when its cooler, If you have a hair dryer, you can test out that theory by starting it at night or when its cool and then heating it up with the hair dryer to see if temperature is really the defining matter.

Something else I would check for is to confirm you have spark at the plugs, and double check you're getting fuel delivery. Pehaps you have a clogged fuel injector or filter that is causing it.

Thank you soo much for all your help. I'll go try and test the fuel injector/filter now, but then I'm off to work. Please keep advice coming as I will be checking this as soon as I get home. Thanx all.
