my son bought a '93 3.1 5 years ago for $100.00 i have been driving it for the last 4 years. by far the best car i have ever owned. not the prettiest, that would be the '88 le sabre, but the best on my wallet as far as repairs. 180k

Re: What did you paid for your Lumina

I paid $1999 for a 98, 3.1 LS but had to get the power sterring and water pump replaced a week after I got it ($120 Total including parts).

It had 122K on it and is now almost at 124k. I had to flush coolant due to neglected dexcool.

All is working very well (like new) *knock on wood*.

Plan on doing a major tuneup next month as the car still has original wires and such according to my mechanic. According to him it looked like the spark plugs have never been changed! Also gonna do my breakes while im at it.

Re: What did you paid for your Lumina

bought a 91 with 150K on it for 100.00 drove till it had close to 250K on it. Never any major engine problems (2.5 four cyl) transmission worked as good the day i scraped it as it did new.
Worst problems i had was replacing steering rack, and the regular rear brake parts. Sold it for scrap for 100.00 bought a wrecked 93 Grand Prix for 50.00 for the engine, put the engine in a real nice condition 89 Z24 Cavilear that i got in a a trade and have no $ in. passing 160K on the car and 70K on the new engine, we will see how long this one lasts, that is if i dont swap the 3.1 out for a 3.4. So all in all, i have nothing in the Z, the old Lumina paid for it.
