Re: D15b7 Mini-me d16z6 Running only 2 cylinder??? HELP!!!!

Are the fuel injectors firing? Advance/retard the timing to far? Torqued the spark plugs in to spec? Hook everything up right when you put the block back together? And maybe someone else can answer this, but do you need a different ECU with the mini-me swap?

Re: D15b7 Mini-me d16z6 Running only 2 cylinder??? HELP!!!!

Well the block was working right intill i swap the d16z6 head on. Havent check the fuel injectors yet but will if that maybe the case. Timing not sure about that because i don't have a d16z6 timing belt cover to set the timing right...can it be the timing that cyclinder are not working right? I used a p28 and my old ecu from 94 dx hatch still same thing.Spark plug is perfect spec for sure.

Re: D15b7 Mini-me d16z6 Running only 2 cylinder??? HELP!!!!

Sounds like something wasn't hooked up right when you put the new head on. The reason I'm asking about the injectors is if they got dirty or clogged when you took em out to put the new head in. To see if they're firing turn the car on, take a long flathead screwdriver, put the metal tip of the screwdriver against one of the injectors, put your ear to the other end (the end of the handle). If you hear a clicking than the injector is working. The reason I brought up the timing is b/c you have the AEM tru time cam gear. It's adjustable so I thought maybe you tinkered with that and it's just to far in one direction or the other. Which also brings me to did you properly align the #1 cylinder at TDC (top dead center) before you reinstalled everything? That might be the problem too.

Was that MSD ignition on the car before you swapped heads and where did you get that ecu? Did you run the new wires to the ecu to engage vtec because your normal wire harness wouldn't be set up for it. Sounds to me like you tried to do too much at once.

Re: D15b7 Mini-me d16z6 Running only 2 cylinder??? HELP!!!!

I had the MSD before the swap so that couldnt be it. i Bought the P28 off the street...could of that messed up the whole motor??? And V-tec is wired....i got it from this guys write up. The Spark plugs does burn up though. Just when I pulled the plugs off it doesnt respond like cyclinder 3&4 like low idle or shutting the motor off

You shouldn't need the timing cover from the Vtec engine to tell if the timing is lined up. What you need to do is pull the head again an set for number 1 TDC then line up the timing marks on the cam with the marks on the back portion of the original cover. If you've got everything lined up and it still does it post up and let me know.

Re: D15b7 Mini-me d16z6 Running only 2 cylinder??? HELP!!!!

You pull your head off and move the crank so that the number one cylinder is at the very peak of its arc. You need a haynes manual. You really should check the timing first.

That's what I was getting at earlier. Timing could be off... time to take apart the block again.

And you should probably get a repair manual for your car. Haynes and Helms are both pretty good.
