Re: Engine Swap
with fab skills, anything is possible. if you had the time, money, and skills you could probably do like a bluebird drivetrain in a saturn.
other then major reworking, you can mess with what you have. the block is very solid as with the trans (after diff pin is welded or a quaife put in its place). the trans are very tough and the engine can take some power. they can be quick on low boost, doesnt take much power to make it go. turboing is a great option on it, if you know what to get and how to tune it. supercharging would be nice, but most guys tuning saturns dont go that route. the other option is nitrous. they can be a very potent thing. like 250whp, and weight reduction, has put a saturn into the 11's on a stock block (upgraded pistons and rods) and stock trans. guys are putting down over 300whp on stock block and trans without issue. when you near 300whp in these cars, you better have some REAL tacky tires. hell a guy i know is running 6-8psi and he can break loose through 3rd. the thing is research!!!!!!!!!!! if you tune and run like 10psi or more, an mp2 (sohc manual trans) is probably wanted to have some longer gears. for more help, join up on www.turbosaturns.net. plenty of help there
