me vs a 2nd gen 3000GT

i was coming back home from work tonight and i know that i don't post up alot of racing stories because i usually don't have the opportunity to race because i don't look for these things.

well tonight i was on the HOV lane and there was a black 3000GT with a wu-tang sticker on it and he was pacing me. i thought nothing of it until my co-worker who was sitting shot gun was like

"yo man he wants to race you" and i thought no way casue he knows he would get owned. well he ends acelerating up to 90-100mph and i'm like oh shit i guess he does want to race casue i was pacing him and for me to keep up with him i was boosting 4 psi ( which is around half throttle )

so he slows down and i get next to him and i just downshift to 4th at 80mph and i let her ripe. by 110mph he was like 5 cars behind. it looked like he wasn't even racing. so i got off the HOV lane and he high beamed me from behind. so i'm like alright this guy wants more.

this time around i downshifted to 3rd at 70mph and i honked 3 times when i got next to him. well lets just say that i just drove away from him like he was standing still and when i got to 110mph he was like 2 bus lenghts behind. then he just stopped following me.

its kinda hard to tell if he was racing of not casue he honestly didn't move.

i don't like lookin for races, but if htey come to me, i dont' care what kind of car they drive i'll race. i don't care even if its against a car that i will lose too.

Could have been. If it was a stock vr4 you have a good 60whp on him, but I still he should have put up more of a fight. Maybe an SL? Or maybe you just owned him, I dunno.

i know for a fact its not a VR4, it didn't have the 4 piston calipers. i have my co worker look for them when the car is moving.

don't know, i haven't raced normal imports in a very very long time and i've never raced a ordinary car ever since i made this power. hmmmmmmmmmmm i'm plotting something, i should race turbo2nr on the highway just to see what happens to make sure if he was trying to race or not.

the base and SL don't matter in the 2nd gen does it? i always thought it was the same. i know the first gen with the pop up lights matters.

It is possible for a 2nd gen to be a SOHC. If it was a base or SL from 91-96 it is going to be a DOHC regardless. The only difference between the SL and the base in those years was some luxury options and a few other things like ABS, digital thermostat, etc. And no, the 3kgt's like mine (1st gens) are all DOHC's regardless of being a base or SL.

None taken. I don't know how fast your car is but I if I had to guess I would say you raced a DOHC n/a. I've raced a SOHC 3kgt before and had no trouble pulling on him even after he had a head start.

i really do wish faster cars would mess with me but the fastest car that actually tried to race me was a 350Z and he was still a push over.

Yep, All stealth bases were 161hp SOHC, but they were only made from 91-96. So in 97-99 the 3kgt base was downgraded from the DOHC to the SOHC. The rest of the NAs are 222hp DOHC.
