Unhappy HVAC Problems

Has anyone with a 2002 X5 had problems with heater/AC system? My car only gives ice cold air on AC with no response to temp setting increases. In the winter, I was unable to get any warm air from dash vents even on three red dots !

Smile Problem Solved

:flash: After complaining for three months to my dealer, a letter to BMW USA, got results! There was factory debris jamming a door in the duct system. Its unfortunate that I had to beg for a fix, whats wrong with them have they been in the USA to long?

Re: Problem Solved

Sir i have the same problem and now it may be worse. the only illuminated buttons in the head unit are the three vent arrows in the left side and in the rt side only the a/c button is lit but recirculate lights up only when steering button is pressed.

LCD display still working and displays the left/right setting thats now fixed to the last setting i inputed. The rest of the unlit buttons are not functional. according to lots of threads i've been going thru the above symptoms are common in sedan BMw's. Some units will restore all function by simply replacing 1 tiny blue and square resistor located just below the blue plastic pin connector where the blue harness plugs into board. This fix costs less than a dollar in contrast to many that spent an average of $300 to 600 for replacing the entire head unit. Problem with our newer integrated board is that blue resistor doesnt seem to exist. Can you please ask your local stealer there where this resistor may be? as a result to this chronic problem, 2 motors that shuts/opens vents are busted probably from overheating the electric motor from perpetualy trying to shut off that vent with a jam?

Please ask exactly where that debree is usualy located and what door vent may be jammed? Thanks to your post now it makes sense why the recirculate air switch doesnt do anything. What is the source of that debree anyways?

I hope you can help sir, im all the way in the Philippines and stealer here wants too much.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soonest...Mike
