Do 4 spds have different half shafts?
I recently took my car into a mechanic because i just put a new transmission in and i was tired of working on it. I took it in for wireing but he noticed while it was on the stand that my halfshaft was sticking out about a quarter inch and wasn't sealed. He told me some of the 4t40's have differen't half shafts and i might have to get one specificly for this 4t40. I think it should fit, but he insists its probably the wrong half shaft. Do 4t40's have differen't half shafts? the driver side fit, but the passanger side didn't fit.

Re: Do 4 spds have different half shafts?
440T4 shafts vary in length from the TH125.Also,440T4s have a different shaft diameter left and right. The seals on the output shafts are different.Go to NAPAONLINE.com and try a number of different year/trans combinations and see what part numbers you come up with.
