Re: radio hooking up from factory.

Do you already have an aftermarket radio you would like to put in or no?

If not I would highly reccommend looking at crutchfield.com

Why?

Well if you go to their site and put in what fits your car they will not only show what fits your specific car but also if you buy a sterio for 129.00 and up they will include the wireing adapter harness needed and also if needed the plastic casing that helps you fit it into the dash correctly as well as what they call master sheets that tell you not only the tools but how to do the job step by step and with pictures and diagrams.

I just put a sony sterio in my moms 2001 celica from them and it looks great and only took about 2 hours and tech support for life.

And no I do not work for them just after the celica really like them and have heard nothing but good about them.

Good luck,

Joe

Re: radio hooking up from factory.

stereo's are a breeze, you just have to do a few to get the hang of it. you could buy a harness adapter that will make installing easier, i don't know where to get though. what year is your sunfire? to install you need a mounting kit (generally like 20 beans), and bare minimum your new aftermarket cd player. any new cd player you buy from an electronics store should have wiring diagrams and installation instructions. it's not completely dummy proof, but it's not rocket science. wire cutters, wire strippers, electricians tape or wire connectors, and you're set.

i've never gone into detail teaching anyone else how to install a stereo, so i won't start now. the only hairy thing about doing it yourself is that depending where you buy the stereo from, it may void the warranty. they tried pulling that shit on me once. i told them where to go. and got a new deck out of the deal, but i was fortunate. installing a stereo yourself is relatively easy, but there are things that can go wrong if you don't do it right, hence diy can void warranty.

professional rates aren't that bad at some places these days though, so if you can afford to do that, might be the way to go.
