Mustang Envy

I just rode in my friend's 06 Mustang GT. What made it so kickass was because he was running open headers. He just had the SLP Longtubes with the crossover pipe and it sounded so freakin badass. I know everyone here is saying "big deal" but I have never heard a car with open headers in person before, so it was my first time. It was loud as hell. When he took off on the highway, I got chills. It literally made my week! He's going on vacation soon, and that is when he is going to get a 13 piece bodykit installed and when he gets back, he is going to put the rest of the exhaust on, sidepipes baby! I am just so ecstatic right now. Sorry, just thought I'd share.

Re: Mustang Envy

Open headers are sweeet. I helped a friend put some on a 72 gmc truck, I loved the sound of that when his dad started revving it after we got them installed.

But on the subject of different engine noises... Ever heard a 366 big block with the left bank's plugs taken out run? Sounds pretty funny.

if i were your friend i'd skip the bodykit and put the money towards performance parts like a cam or something,, the kit's probly gonna weigh the car down too,,

Re: Mustang Envy

You oughtta go to ACME and buy him a 5 pound bag of rice and put it in the driver seat for whne he gets back. 13 piece body kit... lmao.

Don't know where you are, but around here open headers on a new car will get you a decent ticket, and might even lose your car if your a jackass about it. There's alot of nuisance laws, and the local cops have alot of time on their hands some days.

Nice thing about older cars (like mine) is that you no longer need the inspections, and can get away with the louder'n shit exhaust. Loud's all great until you have a headache, that's why I had mine toned down a bit.

Wheneverthefuck I get a new video cam I'll post up some clips.

Re: Mustang Envy

I hated how friggin loud my car was with open headers. Although I must admit the new Stang does look pretty nice to me.

Re: Mustang Envy

the rice thing's old.

straight-through exhausts/open pipes are fun for pushing it but long journeys on motorways/freeways it's just annoying, the same loud tone is too much.

I told him the same thing, go before show, but he will do it a little later. In addition to the body kit, he is getting twin silver stripes down the center of his black on black stang. As for the open headers, its obviously only temporary so he can match up the side pipes for when the body is finished.
But he plans on doing everything to this car. Today, we talked about cams for a minute, and he is also going with some type of supercharger too. Good thing this is a brand spankin new car. He's had it for almost 6 months and only has 2,600 miles on it. He's such a bitch.
