Flushing 5spd tranny

ok to so basically all i have to do is drain old fluid and put the the new fluid in right??

Tools Needed: 3/8inch wrench, 17MM socket, funnel, 4 Jack stands

Once the front of your car is up on the two jack stands, get out your funnel, wrench, and 17mm socket.

Place the wrench (without any socket attachments) into the bolt. As you can see, bolt has a hole in it that fits your wrench perfectly. Unscrew the bolt by turning couter-clockwise. Have a small bucket to catch all the manual transmission fluid about to pour out of where the bolt is located. Once all the fluid has been drained tighten bolt back on to the transmission.

Place the end of the funnel into the hole created by removing the other bolt. Put the manual transmission fluid into the funnel. Once 1 quart is done start on the second but pouring very slowly. Once about 60% of the second quart has been used, the hole from bolt might start to overflow.

Take out the end of funnel and put the bolt back on and screw it in.

Use Honda manual transmission fluid.
2 quarts.

Maybe I'm missing something, but you say you need 4 jack stands. Should I only be lifting the front of the car or lift the front and back so it's level?

Ahhh its smart I have read this is the proper way to drain.

It's better with 4 b/c then your car is totally level. If you just do the front 2 your going to be at a bit of an angle causing some of the fluid to not drain out properly. I just did my tranny fluid though with only the front 2 jacked. I did it on a driveway though so it was about level anyways. But either way you get most of the fluid out so there's not to much to worry about. And don't forget to run to the dealership and pick up 2 new crush washers too for the bolts. You're going to be there anyways getting the tranny fluid. I don't get why they only have you do this every 90k miles. It's so easy to do. Almost easier than an oil change becuase you don't have to wrench out a filter as well. Maybe I'll start doing this with every other oil change... smooth shifting all the time...
