Traction and check engine light on

02 Cavalier has traction and check engine light, also after this happened seem to notice transmission changing rough. Is there no traction off button and is the check engine light on because of traction light coming on?

Re: Traction and check engine light on

...i thought if the check engine light comes on then the trac off light goes on? Maybe it is the other way around, im not sure. Anyway, I have almost the same problem, only my ETS off, Trac off and ABS lights come on.

Have you checked the 500A ABS fuse on the drivers hand side under the hood in the fuse box?

Trying to figure out the damn ETS off light is a real pain in the ass... I couldn't even tell you where to start. But get the CEL read and that may start you in the right direction. I got it the other day when i rewired my tach adaptor and grounded all my gauges on the same neg ground wire. Who would have known that would cause it to do that. GUess the car didn't like that idea.

Re: Traction and check engine light on

This may sound stupid, but is your e-brake not fully in? When it isn't completely off, a whole assortment of lights come on and stay on. Might affect your transmission. But, these are just my ramblings.

Re: Traction and check engine light on

Alright this is starting to get to me a bit...ETS off and ABS light comes on, mostly when I turn right. Wether it's from a complete stop and a full 90degree turn or if im turning right while reversing, these lights come on, not everytime tho. Also when I first get going and after 2 left turns when i leave my house, the first right turn sometimes my steering wheel shakes and it feels like it's gonna stall, like it's losing power or the front end is gonna fall out so i'll give it more gas and it will go....but aside these happenings it drives fine. What steps should I take to finding out the problems? What fuses should I check, etc.?
