Power window problem

The right rear power window on my 2000 Intrigue GLS stopped working. Neither the driver's side or rear right door switches work. Does anyone know what the common fail modes for Intrigue pwr windows are?
Thanks.

Re: Power window problem

Too funny! Ditto on the exact same problem. Exactly the same! Depending on the season/weather it will start working. I'm guessing it's a ground wire in the right rear door. The easiest thing to try is get a multi-meter and test for voltage at the rear switch. Let us know if anybody has any better ideas. GM Qualiteeeeee!

Re: Power window problem

The power window motors are known to go bad. I've had to replace ours in three of the four windows - two of those three windows wouldn't even stay up.

Both rear windows on my 98 Intrigue have had problems. I was able to take the armature out of the motor housing and clean the brushes and commuter with alcohal. No cost fix that has worked for over a year.

I believe you loosed three or four bolts that hold the motor assembly assembly to the door. There are four small screws that hold the cover on the motor. After removing these, you can rotate the armature assembly out and clean. When you put it back it, use toothpicks to hold the brushes out of the way and rotate it back in (to mesh the gears).

Re: Power window problem

I had the same problem on my 99 Old's Intrigue. I also had a multitude of other electrical problems: headlights would come on and go off intermittently until I manually turned the lights on; directional display in rear view mirror would flicker (or disappear) when A/C or heater turned on; cruise control would not work; A/C would stop altogether after a while (including the display lights). I took the car into a local automotive electric service center and after some diagnostic testing they determined that some of the wiring to the ignition switch was bad. Also the right half of my instrument panel had no lights - this was a separate problem - all the bulbs had burned out on the one side). They fixed the wiring (and replaced the bulbs). Everything now works great, including the rear passenger window. The total bill was $295. I was actually expecting worse.
