Need Help NOW...fan clutch assembly.

I am trying to replace the water pump in my 96 S-10, 6 cylinder. I am having a problem getting the fan clutch assembly off. The retaining nut will not budge.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you still can't get it, you can use a ford clutch fan removal tool. Autozone has them in their loan a tool program.

You mean i need a special tool to get it off?

You don't have to use the tool it just makes the stubborn ones easier. Most people can get them off by using the method shown in the link that I posted.

We finally got it off.

I did try to download the link you gave me, twice, but it took forever.

only one boo boo in the link, i see shops do it all the time, and its not part of procedure, but while your there, replace the hose clamps with a good quality screw clamp, i trust those pinch ones so well if i ever bought a brand new vehical they would be gone b4 the second oil change due
