gas milage

I have a 1996 ej8, and I think there is something wrong with my car's fuel consumption. Right now my needle is at E, and I have only done 250 miles, most of which is city. The ej8 has a 12 gallon fuel cell right? SO that would be 20 mpg. Sure I drive it hard sometimes, but thats pretty rare.

So now, what should I change or do? Maybe a tuneup? What does a tuneup consist of? Many thanks

Re: gas milage

Is the fuel light on? B/c on my 98 EX I'll be down around towards E, but the fuel light won't come on til a little later. Usually while I'm in the vicinity of E, but the light isn't on I still got a bit of gas left and I'll only wind up getting <10 gal at the gas station when I go to fill up.

Is the air pressure in your tires good? What about your transmission fluid? Air filter? Spark plug wires? Pretty much what superbluecivicsi said about basic mantinence.

Re: gas milage

it could be something as little as your tires being un alliened. does the car vibrate at any particular speeds. it happend to me once and i was getting about 24 mpg's.

maybe fuel filter, air filter. try putting some addatives to the gas injector clearner. (NOT octane boost)
