Go to troublecodes.net for code definitions.

Re: 1996 transport problem codes

Hi Chris,

Here is what I got for those codes.

P0303 - Misfire (on Cylinder 3 I believe)

P0135 - Heated Oxygen Sensor Failure
These are tested during start-up. There are 2 sensors :
#1 is mounted before the catalytic converter (probably near the exhaust manifold),
#2 is mounted after the catalytic converter.

P0441 - P0440 through P0446 are for the Evaporative Emissions system (makes sure the fuel system doesn't leak fumes). This could be anything from a loose gas cap seal, to a relay in the system.

I would clear the codes and see what comes back, but that's just me.

Take Care,

Any cel in NYS causes a failure, clearing the codes with a scanner ( 96 up) will reset the monitors and until a specfic drive cycle is accomplished and the monitors reset, it will still fail.
