My MIL has an early to mid 90s model taurus. When she turns off the ignition and removes the key, the car won't turn off. It was just a few minutes at first, but now it's taking more than an hour to shut off. Does this sound like the ignition switch? Or something else completely? Is there any safe way for her to turn off the car until she can figure out what the problem is and get it fixed? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Melissa |

Re: Taurus won't turn off!
That sound like an ignition switch problem and removing the right fuse or battery cable would be the easiest way to turn the engine off.

Re: Taurus won't turn off!
She might be able to shut it off in gear and after it stops running put it in park. Sounds like the ignition switch is going, or it is out of adjustment.

Re: Taurus won't turn off!
Thanks for your responses folks. She's going to go ahead and have the ignition switch replaced. I'll post back and let you know what happens!
