Question lost key for 1991 ford taurus!!

I have a major problem! I have lost the ignition key for my vehicle. In order to get the lock cylinder out it says in the haynes manual that you must have the key in the ignition cylinder and the key to the run/on position. How do I go about getting the cylinder out for replacement without spending a lot of money on a locksmith or dealer(HaHa). Is there a hidden spot I can drill a hole or could I put a slide hammer in the keyhole and try to pop it out. I have already drilled out the hold in pin. AAAHHHHH!

Thank you for your time!

I personally would have spent the 12-30 dollars to get a key made at the dealership.

I agree. I'd take the VIN number down to the dealer and just have an extra key made. It's simpler, and you avoid any problems that may arrise from yankin out the cylinder.

The key has been found! The cylinder is out because like a rookie i messed it up. A screwdriver will be used until paycheck, but thank you I never thought of matching the vin #'s at a dealership. Thankyou for your time
