Primer options for automotive paint - Question
After years of using only hobby enamels for my cars, I recently started using automotive lacquer (Cobra Colors). I really like the results. Here is my question: I understand that I need a primer as a "barrier" between the plastic and the automotive lacquer because of the "hot" solvents. Which primers that are usable for car modelling provide these barrier properties? Are there options and which ones have worked for you?
Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Primer options for automotive paint - Question
i know duplicolor primer's are 'hot' (lacquers) but I've NEVER had a problem with crazing/hazing/eating the plastic.

Have you noticed CobraColors sells a product to do just that?

Re: Primer options for automotive paint - Question
Besides my own stuff, Dupli-Color sandable gray primer, Tamiya Fine Surface Primer & Gunze-Sangyo Mr. Surfacer primers are known to be suitable for use with automotive finishes.
