leaking water from rear of engine compartment?

noticed a puddle of fluid under the car , dripping off from behind the engine. I just made a 2 hour drive, had the a/c on. the fluid was clear, looked and felt like water. it wasn't overheating, the water in the radiator resevior was slightly above max. wheres this comming from? something with the a/c? is it a big problem? the a/c was working fine btw. any help appriciated, thanks.
