oil question

I have a 96 intrepid with a 3.3L. I read somewhere that fram oil filter shouldn't be used. i have castrol gtx oil in my car with a fram oil filter. If its true about not using a fram oil filter on an intrepid, Would it damage the engine if the fram oil filter was used just the once and would it it cause the enigne to idle rough. It has 171,000km on it. Im gonna change the spark plugs with NGK plugs and put some injector cleaner, that may help cause it an old car like this prolly does need a tune up. Thanks in advance

Re: oil question

Sounds like your using the right oil to me. Fram filters are a crap-shoot. Some are ok, but i've seen too many filter media collapses. I'm pretty sure if they're changed every 3,000 miles, you shouldn't have a problem. My personal favorite is the K&N or Mobil 1, both made by the same company..
