airbrush question

This might have been asked before, but I turned nothing up in the search. When I spray my airbrush, the color comes out smooth, but than bigger globs of paint spray out also. I adjusted the PSI, went from 30 to 40 than to 20, than 25, yet I still have a spotted spray, what do I do?
Thanks for all the replies in advance.
Chris

Re: airbrush question

Mine seems to do that too, I'm not sure what causes it, or if I'm doing something wrong. To be safe, whenever I stop spraying, I dab the tip of my brush with a paper towel, that seems to prevent it.

Re: airbrush question

Paint is probably accumulating at the nozzle and being sucked into the airstream. Check to see if the tip of your needle is bent or try a wider nozzle.

Re: airbrush question

If you checked your airbrush and it isn't the needle, sometimes if your airbrush is clogged it will do that too..
What I do for this is take the AB apart and soak the parts in lacquer thinner.
That includesthe AB body itself, just make try to soak the parts where the paint flows
and not the parts that don't (this helps keep the rubber parts in ur AB from aging too fast).
After a night of soaking, srub, rinse and reasemble.
Just though of another 'maybe'.. insufficiant mixing?

Re: airbrush question

That sometimes happens when you're spraying acrylics, specially white.
You might try to add a bit of acrylic retarder do the mix. Maybe it will help.

That was the main reason for sticking to enamels for me... (Oh, and having a big bunch of tinlets in stock...

Cheers,
Luis

Re: airbrush question

Thanks for the replies guys. I am going to soak the airbrush, and remix the paint, I am just going to keep trying new things, this Airbrush just needs a little tender loving care, than I think it will work well.
