Re: Cable or Hydro?
The shifter has nothing to do with the clutch, so dont sweat it. They still use a shift linkage. But, I personally like my cable clutch..drove my friends hydro in his mazda truck and didnt really like it, no feel for the clutch..I guess I would get used to it, but still wouldnt like it..

Re: Cable or Hydro?
You can put a short shifter on both a hydro and cable tranny since a short shifter depends on the shift linkage. All b-series transmissions have the same shift linkage and can use the same short shifter.
As far as which type of tranny is better, if you are gonna drive a 4th gen, i recommend sticking with cable since if you wanna run hydro you have to convert. The hydro to cable conversion costs like 400 bucks, which can be a big strain on your wallet in the middle of a swap. Cable trannys include 1st gen b16 ones and ls trannys.

Re: Cable or Hydro?
I didnt say that all shift linkages were the same...I just said that it didnt matter whether it was cable or hydro, they still shift the same...
