I was just wondering what the difference is between a 1999 cavalier RS,LS,Z24,and convertible.

Re: Whats the differnece?

RS = Rally Sport
LS = Luxury Sedan or Sport
Z24 = Usually just the manual transmission version of the car. In newer generations the engine is bigger.
Convertible = Adjustable soft-top, generally a coupe.

Typically, I'd suggest this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Cavalier
as a useful site.

Not necessarily true, my neighbor's daughter owns a base model with a Twin Cam. Granted, it was a special order, but "just" the motor or "just" the tranny is not what makes a Z24.

A Z24 includes the motor, body kit, suspension, badging, fog lights, and some other things considered options on the base, but standard on the Z24, such as power windows and locks.

If memory serves there are 2 suspension levels, fe1 and fe2, with the Z24 getting fe2. I could be wrong on that, but its based upon my understanding of 2nd gens which I know had fe1, fe2, and fe3 suspensions, with the fe3 being Z24-exclusive.
