I was talking about AF the other day with my parents and I mentions the kiwis! My mom ask what they were and told here the NZ peepes of AF!

Well.......she didn't know whereit came from and I explainded

Now to get to my point.

Where did the AFer's get thier screennames? Why did you chose it and does it stand for anything? I know most are cars, but some aren't and just wondering?

TARANAKI....A region of new Zealand noted for its brilliant sunshine[yeah, right],huge surplus of world class glamour models[yeah, right]
and a bloody great volcano which is visible from every part of the province. The mountain and lower slopes are a National Park, and are home to the common Brown Kiwi.

Carnut-any explanations needed?

As far as avatar, I've always went my own way, never followed anyone. If you don't like it, oh well.

Mines pretty simple...

Grendel: He was the enemy from the story "Beowulf" I read it last year in 12th grade and thought "that is a neat name"

I have used it on a bunch of online RPGs and Message Boards... gotta stay with the same name

It's very common for us New Zealanders to be called Kiwis just as the Australians get called Kangaroos.

My screen name comes from my favorite cartoon character.

the Kiwi is a native bird only found in New Zealand due to its expert flying ability (or lack thereof).

It has become the New Zealand icon alongside the silver fern.

as for the Americans being called yanks I think it may be because the rest of the world sees them as a pack of wankers if you are American . . . I'm just KIDDING

oh and yes we do grow kiwi fruit (which I believe originated in China (but I could be wrong))
