87 CRX DX - Stalls when running A/C

Recently did a LOT of work on the car. Rebuilt carb, new fuel filter, new mechanical fuel pump, new plugs and wires.

Had the idle set to 1000 rpm's. When I turn on the A/C, it bogs the engine down to 800 and if I run the A/C on high fan, it stalls when I downshift.

I set the rpm's to 1500 and now it bogs to around 1000. Also noticed that if I run it one setting about low (on the fan) it won't stall. But, if I'm running high fan setting, it dies while driving.

Didn't think the A/C would pull on the engine that much. I'm in Florida and need the A/C!!

Any ideas on what to try, would be appreciated.

Belt tension may have something to do with it,or sticky pump bearing?..The AC uses a lot of power, battery may be struggling with the load.
Raining here in London,UK so AC not much use...
