Air Suspension Out

Looks like I just lost the air suspension in my Conti.

I don't hear the air compressor anymore and the ride has turned really rough.

"Check Ride Control" comes on after driving a bit.

I understand that a lot of folks do the conversion, but I really like the air ride...

Are there any simple steps I can check before taking it in? The switch in the trunk is on, BTW.

Is it OK to drive in this condition or will I screw something else up?

You can drive as long as the bags are pumped up, and if they are, chances are the Compressor is the only thing to replace. I don't recall if there's a fuse or electrical gismo to be checked prior to replacing anything more expensive.

Anyone else know this answer?

Thanks. Will it be completely obvious if there is no air in the bags?

I drove it to the auto parts store today where they put a code reader on it, but it didn't show any problems.

It was a real bouncy ride, BTW!
