Misfire Cylinder 2...SOS!

Hey everyone...
Picked up a code P0302, misfire on cylinder 2. I've changed the spark plugh and wires and the plug seems to be burning fine. I even did a compression test. That's fine too, about 155-165.
I'm heading towards checking the fule injector next. Any other thoughts before I taking this and waist my time?
Thanks everyone in advance. Hope everyone is having a great memorial day weekend!

I always use these guys Forums <<< here >>> and their Trouble Shooting guides <<< PO302 here >>> when I have to tackle an OBDii problem, saves me much time and expense.

Good luck !! Post and findings back here so we'll all know better

Re: Misfire Cylinder 2...SOS!

Thanks for the site! So far I've checked the resitance on the injector #2 and it read 14.2 this am. I checked a few others and it read 15.2. I belive the normal range should be 11-18 ohms. I ran the car for a few minutes then it began to idle rough. I returned home and checked the resistance on #2 and it read 0.0. I'm leading to a faulty dying injector. I've ordered one from the auto parts store. I'll let ya know how it goes. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Question Re: Misfire Cylinder 2...SOS!

I'm getting the same error code on our 1995 Lincoln Continental. It's does a stutter (misfire?) every 20 seconds or so.

I took it to the dealer and they wanted to change the plugs, wires and coil #2 for almost $800. I said "no thanks".

I just changed the spark plug on cylinder 2, but it made no difference. The plug was old, but not horrible. It was probably still working ok.

I'm going to check the wire tomorrow.

How do I go about testing the fuel injector exactly? Would I need any special tools?

Is it possible to check the coils?

Thanks!

Hey Drew...I tested mine out with a volt meter. I put the setting to test for ohms. You should get a reading about 14-15ohms with the engine off. Mine was first 12 then finally 0. Hope that helps! Good luck. It's easy to change.

Re: Misfire Cylinder 2...SOS!

It turned out to be a bad wire going to cylinder 2!

I went ahead and replaced all the wires and plugs.

Getting much better mileage now, too!

Talking Re: Misfire Cylinder 2...SOS!

Glad you figured yours out! It was probably cheaper than the injector! Until out next codes! LOL
