Re: Cats or no cats

I kinda like to have everything that came on the car, on the car. Unless it is a pretty active street/strip car. Or a street rod. but if it was my daily driver/fun vehicle i'd keep it.....then again you may see a good enough increase in MPG it may be worth it

I got long tubes on the car now and thought the same thing. Right now I am loosing about half if not more of my ground clearance from the damn cats. I am not worried about performance with them I got high flo cats put on. I am worried about beating the under side of my car to shit...

Edit: keep in mind I don't have to pass emissions in Oregon

Re: Cats or no cats

Cut um out, If they are bottoming out then get rid of them. Also i still think you will see some performance. I cut the cat off my s10 b/c it was plugged and it runs great now.

Re: Cats or no cats

Speaking of verters, if I got a new catback and I decided to ditch my cat would it just bolt up to the y pipe with no problems? Or would it just be easier to buy a high flowing one?

You would have to either get the exhaust welded to the catback or have a crossover pipe put in its place that have the same bolt pattern as the cat.

Re: Cats or no cats

your car will be more throaty sounding with it off... the only downside is it might smell a little stronger and you burn a lil hole in the ozone lol .... but I vote for taking it off... I took mine off

Re: Cats or no cats

sounds like i wanna move to Oregon . take um of and get an off road y-pipe. might pick up some mpg. that way u don't have to do any welding and u have the option of reinstalling ur stock setup if u ever decide too.
