problems with passenger side airbag panel reinstallation

I removed the passenger-side airbag plastic cover on a 2000 GTP in order to change it another color, and I am having trouble putting it back on. There are two areas where it is held down: the back which is held down by 3 nuts that I can easily tighten, and the front, which is held by two removable pins. I can't get access to the area under the metal panel where I would attach the two pins. Can someone please help me out?
