Re: 2000 ls code

The 1299 code is "Cylinder Head Over Temperature Protection Active". This means the car thinks it's overheating and should go into "fail safe" mode.
.
You really are going to have to come up with a better description or we can’t help?

Re: 2000 ls code

As clubairth mentioned, powertrain troublecode P1299 (per the Ford Service Manual):
Indicates an engine overheat condition was detected by the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. An FMEM Strategy called Fail-safe Cooling was activated to cool the engine.

Possible causes:
  • Engine cooling system concerns
  • Low engine coolant level
  • Base engine concerns
If you'd like a PDF copy of the FSM troubleshooting steps, private message me with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachements and I'll e-mail it to you.
