Urgent Help - Car Wont Start

so yea, this is in regards to the problem i've been getting 'fixed'. i have an idea of whats wrong, but not where the problem may be. so i took it into a chevy dealership, and i DONT have a problem with my fuel pump ,there was a problem with some relay regarding the fuel pressure. (it was cranking real slow, taking a long time to turn over). so they told me they hotwired it, bypassing the relay until the part i ordered gets here. they did this since im completely dependent on this car, no 2nd ride. its WILL NOT start, the dash comes on, the door alarm, the radio and all that so i'm positive whatever they hotwired mustve come loose? what im asking is..before i spend the money to get it towed to someplace down here, anyone maybe know where this problem is? thanks for any help

Re: Urgent Help - Car Wont Start

They probably bypassed the relay and just had the pump triggered directly when the key is in the ignition position. Do you hear the pump kick on when you put the key in the start position , If not. Your right it may have come loose. If yes, your it cycle then go off?. If so they didn't bypass the relay there. If it triggers the pump but does not cycle off then they did bypass it there but you may have another issue.

Re: Urgent Help - Car Wont Start

anyway..i got it towed. the chevy dealership i took it too first said my fuel pump relay was bad, and i was awaiting the part. the place i got it towed to said the relay is fine, there was a bad wire/ground, and its starting/driving fine now. think its likely that chevy just overlooked the wire and assumed it was the relay? or is it possible that a bad relay could be killing the wire?

Its possible that the dealership tried to over charge you like they always do.

they tried to charge me $200 for a key tumbler- got one from an autopart store for $20

They tried to charge my brother $900 to fix his window motor- fixed it ourselves $5.

Dealerships are jerks.

Re: Urgent Help - Car Wont Start

A dealer once called me on the phone while my car was there and told me one of the break light bulbs was out and asked if I wanted them to replace it while it was in there...I thought that was nice and said shure...when I went to pick up my car, I found that they had charged me $100 just to change the bulb!!!
I had a fit and told them where they could stick there light bulb!
Needless to say I told them to take it out of my car and I drove down the street to pepboys and got the same bulb for less than a buck...
I havent take my car to the dealer since...

Re: Urgent Help - Car Wont Start

yea...im really not used to taking my car into places. usualy its me or me and a friend working on a nice open engine. i figured if im going to be taking this thing into a shop, it better be the best. so naturally i thought of a chevy dealership..no crooked mechanics..onthespot custom fit parts..trustworthy. but uh..thats not really the case, once i get past all this electrical crap im doing everything myself. i swear man..these mechanics, you have to stay on them constantly or they'll rip you off or mess something up....*sigh

and i like my slashes just fine wright. lol

I don't call them Mechanipricks for nothing. I haven't had one work on my maro yet where the bill wasn't at LEAST double what they quoted me. Since a year ago I'm doing everything myself or I'm selling it.
