Thumbs down 1998 Ford Ranger- dome light stays on- timer switch-where?

Hi,

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger. The dome light stays on for an extended time. Where is the timer switch located?

No timer in the system. The door switch is dirty and causing the dome light to stay on. The switch is on the bottom of the door latch in side the door.

Hi Clark,

Thanks for your info. What I did was to take the (2) door panels off, remove my (2) speakers....go inside and disconnect a 2 wire connection and for some reason my problem was solved. I have no idea why...Everything still works & the light goes off. All other wires I observed went to the electric mirrow adjustment, the door locks, and the window. Do you have any idea what those 2 wires are? I'm flabergasted!

Not sure about the wires but I will look in at my wiring diagram.
The VW I restored. Has 4wheel disc brakes and an engine out of a 914.

If you ever have this problem, try a couple sprays of WD40 in the latch. The switch is in the latch and will get stuck.

I've done this on a '98 Sable and a '95 Ranger... it does the trick!
