Catalytic converter

So my cat on my manifold is pretty much shot. Good thing Nissan has a 8year 80k mile warranty on it and i'm getting it replaced Tuesday. I wanted a header pretty bad, but emissions are kind tough here and I guess i'll stick the the new manifold for now. The car has felt sluggish for a really long time now. Any one have any idea how much power I could be losing right now? I raced a focus about a month ago completely stock and didn't really beat it that bad... that's not a good sign. It was not a hatch back or an svt either. I really hope I notice a difference when the new manifold is in. I think this problem has been going downhill for about 4-6 months before it finally bit the dust.

Re: Catalytic converter

well, ur gas milage will increase. u'll notice that. and i guess no more 10 pine air fresheners in the car at once when the cat decides to fart again....performace wise, u might feel that the car feels like what was used to be a great day, normal. and this new normal day, nothing liek it. do urself a favor and check the air filter, oil, oil filter, and the wires for corrosion. idk who old ur car is so that all depends. i guess that's it...if u really want the header, nismo sells one that is for street use and still has the cat on it.

Re: Catalytic converter

Got my new cat/manifold in. Car runs like the day I got it. I think it has been going out for a long time now, maybe even a year. I hope it didn't score my piston walls :\ . It smelled like ass the 1st day I took it out of the shop, but I think i've got it broken in, I haven't smelled the smell of "burnt penuts" like I did that day. I've been getting on it a little bit more since it feels so good, so I think I'm going to tackle those butterfly screws soon just to make sure I don't suck one into my engine. I really need to do that ASAP considering I'm almost positive i'm ordering an Nismo R-Tune CIA. It's only 20 more dollars that the AEM on a sight I found.
