2000 Montana Intake Leak
Just curious if anyone here can tell me how big a job the intake gasket is on this van?
I have the service manual for the 97 models, but don't know if the specs are the same. I won't go into the age old arguements here as there are plenty of posts, but I hate to spend $800 when I might be able to do it myself. I am not a full time mechanic but did go to school for it and can turn a wrench on most of my own stuff. Are there any links on this procedure that I could find online? I have gotten by for the last 15000 miles with the Mendtite sealer that you add to the coolant, but now am to the point of just "chasing" the leak. Thanks for any help |

Re: 2000 Montana Intake Leak
Go to the Chevy Venture category on this discussion board. At the top, there is a sticky thread that you can read. It is several pages long. Lots of good tips.
I am a wimpy office boy, and I did it. I also changed hoses, belt, plugs, plug wires, oil, transmission fluid, all filters, fuel injector o-rings, etc. etc. The whole ordeal took me about fifteen hours, I think. I was really careful about labeling all of the electrical and vacuum connections, though, and I really took my time to do things right. Runs like a champ now. Just got back my second oil test from Blackstone Labs and the sodium and potassium are clearing up in the system. No water or fuel in the oil anymore and everything is right back where it should be. Hopefully we can get a few more years out of our 2000 Montana. |
