91 camry hesitates & stalls cold
I have a 91 camry that hesitares and stalls when motor is cold, the whole disbuter replaced also the cap, rotor, wires ,etc. It runs fine now but the Caps, etc was replaced then it ran fine for a few weeks, then it stared to act up again this time rest of the distubter was replaced, I just want to know will this fix the problum or there is another ploblum the may be cause of the symptems.

Can't really say. Don't know what lead you to change the parts you changed. Did you actually see a problem with the distributor/cap etc or did you shotgun them? Did you do fuel system tests and not find anything? There's lots of variables we don't know. Best I can do is say give it some time and see what happens.

Check to see if you have an idle air control valve on the 4 cylinder. There will be a rectangular opening right in front at the bottom of the throttle body (loosen one 10mm bolt on the hose clamp at the air hose and pull to one side). Spray some Tri-Flow in there with the engine cold and stumbling if you can get it to idle. If not, then with engine off. There is a computer controlled step motor that varies the opening to control idle speed. Sometimes they stick expecially when cold. The Teflon in the Tri-Flow seems to work best. You should be able to find it at bicycle or motorcycle shops (for chain lube) or home improvement stores. |
