Possible 300ZX...
I am a noob and I am just wondering if this would be a good deal and what expenses would I have to preform to get it running strong? I have read a little bit on some stickys but am not quite sure about the technicalities, thanks.

Re: Possible 300ZX...
I'd ask for more pictures, especially of the "rust" in the rear hatch area. It doesn't look at all bad for a 197,000K car, but you're gonna' be putting in at least 2,000+ dollars in repairs (if you can't do the maintenance yourself). Have it checked out by a mechanic before you make any major decisions to buy it. Good luck.

Re: Possible 300ZX...
Okay well thanks, would the belt and the front brakes really be that expensive? I am not a mechanic or anything as I am only 16 but I do know a lot of people who DO know cars and could help make the possible repairs. I asked him for more photos and will keep all updated. Oh and what is the gas mileage for a N/A 300zx? I can't find it anywhere.

Re: Possible 300ZX...
Here is a link to a very complete 60,000 mile kit:
http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...535424.18.9.84 There is also a 120,000 mile kit with a few more parts: http://www.conceptzperformance.com/C...535424.18.9.84 Which one to go with would depend on the relative condition of the car. How hard? Not too bad. Not for total beginers but if you can take something apart, keep everything in order, read directions and put it all back together then you should be alright. If you are considering doing any work to the car yourself then get a factory service manual first. If the front brakes just need a set of pads then you can a OEM set for $40 or something like that. Pads are pretty easy to replace. A caliper rebuild kit runs $35 is more difficult but not beyond a decent shade tree mechanics ablities. If the rotors need to be turned then you have to do that at a Nissan dealership because it has to be done with the rotors on the car and requires some special equipment, so the manual says anyway. If they need to be turned if might be cheaper to just get some aftermarket ones. I think most people get 20-25 mpg.

Re: Possible 300ZX...
^in my turbo I get about 25-28 on the highway and 17-20 in the city; it should be roughly the same for the z32 n/a if you can keep a light foot for the most part

Re: Possible 300ZX...
OKay thanks, I'm sure I could install this stuff by myself as I have quite a few people that I can ask for free help and I am pretty good with making things fit. Any other things I should try and fix or would this kit be enough?

Re: Possible 300ZX...
Any other problems would have to be taken as they are identified. A 60 or 120,000 mile kit covers just about all the basic maintence on the engine. Add an oil change, coolant flush, new air filter, fuel filter and some new spark plugs to it and you've got most everything covered. And of course if he has reciepts for any work he had done (IE he has a work order for new spark plugs, fuel and air filter only 2000 miles ago) then you can take that off the list.

Re: Possible 300ZX...
^yeap, or if the air filter's of decent make *say K&N* you could just wash it and buy K&N oil and re-oil the filter, which is cheaper than a new filter... not really by much though, you could prolly do just as good with an ebay cone filter.
