Blowing a stop sign

Hello Experts,

No, I did not blow the 4-way stop sign but I did not stop for a complete 3 secs. Then right after I made a left, I saw a cop but sitting in his car at the stop sign on the left that I turned to.
I thought he would accelerate and catch me but instead from my rear mirror, I only saw his rear light flash once as I was a few yards past his car. Then when I was about half mile away, I looked in my rear mirror and saw his rear light flash again as another car went past the stop sign there where he still sat in his car.

Now, does this mean he actually could take picture of people doing rolling stop, and from inside his car ??? Please shed some light.

Waiting for any clue.

Sheen

I haven't heard of any photo enforcement from within police cars. Guess you'll have to wait until you get something in the mail. Or maybe he was filling out paperwork.

Re: Blowing a stop sign

Three second rule? I never heard of that. My understanding is that you must come to a full and complete stop before proceeding. Three seconds is actually a long time to sit of there are no other cars at or approaching the intersection.

I don't doubt you saw something, its just probably something other than an enforecement deal. Maybe a traffic study.

Re: Blowing a stop sign

its your word against a law enforcement officers word. best you can do is plead innocent and plea bargain the charges. ilgoldstien, we have something similar to that here in Colorado. You have to be fully stopped for a period 3 seconds.

Re: Blowing a stop sign

yeah, I think you are good as well. I've never heard of the cops taking pictures of you going through a stop sign. Only cameras I know of in the USA are stationary red light cameras.

Around here (Toronto) people are really impatient. We have a city full of people who only slow down, but never stop for stop signs.

If I stopped for 3 sec at stop signs, people whould honk like crazy and think I was deliberatly trying to annoy the drivers behind me.
