My gearsticks gone limp!

Has anyone every had to completely remove the gear linkage and shifter?
Cos mine leans to the right now as some kind of bush has gone and it
doesnt sit centrally anymore ie its easier to go into 5th than into 3rd gear.
I went to Nissan and bought a bush/bearing but I aint so sure how to pull the
bugger apart (+ the fact I have to use a scissor jack and a jack to lift up my
car as it is so low and I want to do it once only).

If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.:alien:

It's pretty easy. It's the bushing on the support rod that bolts to a bracket attached to the gearbox. Just trace the support rod to the gearbox and have patience. It's not hard.

Limp and hanging to the right

Thanks for the reply, yeah I'll have a look at that. I went to Nissan and they were convinced that it was the bearing at the bottom of the
gearstick that had gone. My car has a short shifter in it, and it was
really good to drive with I can only assume that maybe that has worn
things out faster.
I really have to fix it cos my G20 is mostly getting a hard time and
not getting it in gear and dropping the clutch is all bad.
P10DET have you noticed that it is tricky putting it in reverse? Like
having to sometimes go into 1st to put it in reverse and is your car reallly turbo?

I have to do this all the time. In fact, I think every car I've had I've had to do this.

Yes indeed. I have a SR20DET from a Bluebird SSS (Japanese Market, not OZ).

:jump:

It's a fairly straight-forward swap. I will be supplying Hotshot Performance with intercooler piping to make a FMIC kit for installing this engine in the P10.

I'll have a detailed write-up with photos, but it won't be available for several weeks.

Very cool

About the reverse thing, I have had a real hassles sometimes. My
old skyline did it also but not as bad.
It is really annoying when it isn't actually in gear and then CRUNCH.
Gotta love it.
So you have gone for a front mount intercooler, what from? Have you
heat wrapped/hpc the pipes?

Did you know that the std intercooler actually flows really well, but it
acts as an interwarmer when it gets no air.
I would like to see your write up when its done

From the OEM top mount interwarmer.

No, just painted them. I want the heat to radiate away from them. They are warmer than the air around them. If anything I'd coat them with Swain Tech's Black Body Emitting coating. I did that with my IC. Makes it more effective and also makes it stealthy.

I suspected it flowed OK. Yeah, it's not all that effective up top. Some folks have installed hood scoops, but front mount is still the way to go.

Thanks.

I'll let everyone know when it's available.
