Q About Exhaust

I just put my new muffler on and it has a nice deep sound but not very loud, would i have to take the catalitic converter to make it louder or just run all new exhaust?

make more power and it will be louder. Why do you want it so loud? It'll only get you a fix-it ticket.

It isn't loud probably because you still have that wonderfully stock exhaust that restricts real bad. My alltrac only has a muffler for now and it sounds real good. I like that it isn't loud but I know when I do exhaust it will get too loud so I will be putting resonators in. Ha, you want to make it loud but here we have to keep it quiet or the pigs like to jack you up with an unbeatable ticket called "Excessive Noise" which law dictates is "at the officers discretion" so you cannot prove our exhasut was legal since it was a t a person's discretion. I would avoid the trouble and try not to make it too loud unless it isn't a daily driver. I know it isn't an answer you would want, but it will save you a lotta trouble.

Gutting the cat is going to make it that much louder. I had a cherry bomb and wanted mine louder so i tried gutting it and found no sounds result. It made it a little more throaty but not any louder. If you want louder just do what i did. I ran a straight pipe from the flex pipe back. No cat no muffler. Its sounds deep and it will definetly be loud. The only thing i dont like is until the car gets warm it sounds like im popping popcorn inbetween shifts or when i let off the gas. Before you do that tho you may want to check Inspection laws. In North Carolina cars 95 and older dont have to plug into the computer for Emissions so i can pass like that. Its loud enough my friends can hear me comming from a half a mile away if i get on the gas. Iv had it this way for 3 months and i havent had a cop stop me or question me. Thats just an idea, Not everybody likes to be that loud.

no cat, have a header and exhuast and it sounds nice and deep

i put on a muffler and got a slightly diffrent sound. wasnt loud but sounded good. i then gutted the cat later on and while it gave it a little throughtier sound but it wasnt much louder. my car has the stock resonater in as well.

yah it is definatley deep and i guess i really do like the sound after all. can i put a mr2 header on my 92 celica gt thanks.

my buddy has a 2000 gts and he took the resignator out and put a crappy muffle from autozone and its rediculously loud but annoying
