Question Different Keyless Remote Question

First of all, let me say that I have been lurking and learning on here for a good long time now and have finally become a new member. I have come up with something to ask that that I have not already learned here. Thanks for the tons of valuable information from all you Blazer gurus!

My problem...
I Have a 1999 Blazer LS 2 door, 2 WD, with factory keyless entry. I got one remote with the Blazer when I purchaced it (used). Remote info: GM/UTA - 15732805, FCC ID - KOBUT1BT. I have always had to hit the "lock" and "unlock" buttons twice to lock/unlock the driver door, then two more times to lock/unlock the passenger side door. I have to hit the "Rear 2X" button 4 times to get the back glass to open.

I have changed to a fresh battery, re-programmed and re-synchronized the remote to the transmitter from information gathered here, but still have to always hit the remote twice for each door, and 4 times for back glass. Guess this is being extremely lazy, but I'd love for mine to work like it's supposed to, and like the others I have used on friend's vehicles.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on anything else I might be able to try? I'm sure I have the correct remote. I researched this, and have also spoken with the local dealership about the correct remote ID. This one does work.. just not like it's supposed to.

Thanks,
Kristi

Re: Different Keyless Remote Question

That's just the way the factory ones work... Switch to an after market keyless/remote start/alarm system... A good quality one can easily be had for under a 100.00

Re: Different Keyless Remote Question

The factory remotes should open the driver's door with the first push, the passenger doors with the second push and the hatch with two pushes. You do have the correct transmitter, it may just have a bad connection inside.

Re: Different Keyless Remote Question

I ordered a lot of four remotes for the Blazer on eBay. Hopefully those will work better than this one ever has. I'm considering installing an aftermarket keyless/remote start/alarm system in the near future. Just not sure of what name brand would be the best. I'll have to study on that one a while to find out all my options... plus install price. I've heard the install for those is lots higher than the purchace price, then most the time the installer leaves you with some screwey wiring botch-up to enhance your driving pleasure!

Thanks for your info rlith & ricksza
