2000 Explorer Sport 4.0 liter. Idling trouble.

This problem is not the mass Air sensor next to air filter. Or the Electronic Idling valve in back of throttle body. It acts like it is getting to much air. ir to much gas when idling and on take off. I am pretty sure also that it is not a vacum leak either. This trouble only happens when it is hot outside and it is left idling for long periods of time. The engine does not over heat, but this idling with no movement lets the heat under hood build up. and I am pretty sure that some piece of electrical has a short that accures under this increased heat. I even sparyed the engine down with water when it was acting up like this.. It fixed it for about 15 minutes. As I have said, I have checked for vacum leaks, changed the Mass Air sensor.. $200.. and the electronic idle valve $160. It is getting to the hot time here in LAs Vegas.. this problem has only happen twice now. and if I let it sit for an hour or so.. it is fine. But I know this will only get worse.. any Suggestions??

You might check your catalytic converter. If its bad, it could bring up extra heat, and would definitly make it run rough.
