xsara timing

i recently replaced the timing belt on me xsara. lined up the timing holes and put the timing mark on the belt in-line with the top timing hole in the cylinder-head. now the timing is out by atleast 2deg. does anybody know where the timing marks on the belt are suposed to go? or is there some kind of hidden timing mark on the block and pulleys?
