Retro Cavalier?

With Ford going retro with the new Mustang does any one think there's a chance to get back the beautiful Z24's from the 80's - 92?

Well since they no longer make the cavalier, and it was also there base model cheap car, I would say no.

Second generation ran up until 1994, not 1992

The Cavalier is dead,pure and simple,and like the Vega and Chevette...its probably an era GM would rather like to forget.The J car was concieved in the late 1970s (back when Novas,Monzas and Chevettes were their bread and butter) and barely updated for 1995....GM got their money's worth from the line,and because its no "Classic" like the Camaro or Chevelle SS models,the Cavalier's day in the sun is over...Z24 or not.
Ever think Ford will bring back Escort GT? Or EXP? It will never happen.
The J body never met crash test standards with any degree of assurity.The 95-ups were ranked last as far as T-bone impacts,and the 1st and 2nd generation never really had to meet any independent crash tests,but real world crash results show horrific injuries and staggering deaths from side and frontal crashes in J cars.Like most cars back then,safety wasnt a big concern or even really understood.A reborn 1988-1994 Cavalier coupe would never pass federal safety standards without massive re-engineering.Besides,the new Cobalt meets and exceeds most all crash tests,looks a lot like the 1995-2005 Cavalier coupes,and is far more structurally sound.GM has moved on,and the J is a forgotten remnant of GMs past days at their start of front wheel drive subcompacts in America.

I disagree with the crash test statement.

Broken axle leading to roll down a 40ft embankment...driver got a bump on the head, passenger a broken ankle.


Went airborne and hit a telephone pole 4 feet off the ground. Driver walked away.

@94VL - While it may be accurate it was pointless. So according to you when Ford brought back the retro looks for the mustang they used the same exact engineering as they did in the 70's. No, they took a modern car chassis and styled the body around it to look like the mustangs of old. That's what I am talking about.

I want back the old body styling and the V6 engine with a little rumble, not these 4 bangers with an exhaust kit that make them sound like a lawnmower on roids.

those silly mufflers the crazys put on their cars that cost 6$ sound more like them motorized skateboards, lawmowers have more bite imo.

But a true "exhaust kit" such as headers, catback, magnaflow etc has a more distinct sound and is well worth the cash for the added performance.

I had Pacesetter 4-1 header, magnaflow catalytic converter, and magnaflow dualies and it sounded like complete shit.
