Labor times for repairs on a 99 Bug

My diesel bug ended up with gas in the tank. This caused my car to shut off, so we took it to a dealer in Orange Park. They said the gas had caused the fuel injection pump to go bad and needed to be replaced, then they recommended since I had 60,000 miles on the car, why didn't we go ahead and change the timing belt, tensioner and water pump since everything is in the same vicinity. Then the starter was bad, then they said the gasket around the fuel tank was ruined by the gasoline and that the gasket needed to be replaced because it was sucking in air creating air pockets and causing the car to shut off. I ended up with a new sending unit...that wasn't mentioned.
My questions are- has anyone every experienced any of this? Does anyone know how long these repairs should take? They billed me for 11.5 hours for the fuel injection pump, timing belt, tensioner and water pump, plus 2.2 hours for the starter. It shows they double billed me on my bill because they charged me twice to do the same things. I am at a loss trying to figure out if I was charged the right amount and would really appreciate anyone that could give me some input!! Thank you in advance.

I would go complain. They over charged you. To do the fuel injection pump and water pump, you have to remove the Timing Belt, anyways. So they should have not charger you the full time for each one. I think about 8 hours, i'm not 100% sure. The starter should have been a 1 hour.

Thanks for emailing me back! I did complain and at first they didn't listen and I think thought they could get away with it because I am a female.
I contacted the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, my credit card company and my lawyer. This has been going on for about a month- I took a chance and called the owner yesterday, he called me back today and is giving me $600 back.
I really appreciate your reply- thanks
