I plan to swap my motor and tranny, I have an 87 f250 4x4 and want to swap with a 86 f250 2 wheel drive both with 351 carb and c6s what i need to know is will this tranney bolt to my trasfer case or will it need to be modified ? I dont have the other truck yet so i cant just look but i do recall the tranny looking longer,

Re: tranny swap

The output shaft and the extension housing are different from 4WD to 2WD. You will have to swap the extension housing and the output shaft.

Re: tranny swap

Hi... sorry for the delayed response. This is NOT easy. The entire tranny must be disassembled to replace the output shaft. This should definitely be done by a professional.... sorry. Where are you??
