Rebuild tips...
I may be rebuilding my 85 305 4bbl.... i was wondering if you guys could give me some tips because all the tips have been about fuelinjected ones....but ya i was also wondering about some cheap performance parts that actually make a difference....thnx

The BIG question is, does this car have to remain emission compliant? Not saying it'll be a polluting pig by any means, but will it be inspected?
If not: 1-get rid of the quadjet ccu carb. 2-ccu independant ignition. 3-exhaust/bye bye smog pump(worthless on these motors anyway), but atleast keep a cat on it. 4-#1 killer of carbed 3rd gens, FRESH AIR, find a way to get fresh(er) air in, open element atleast. 5-trans, shift kit 6-rear, 3.73's are not very expensive and aside from #5 the biggest source of improvement. All this will work for switching to a 350 later on when the 305 pukes. If you're inclined enough to do so, advance the eng.degrees. |
