1990 Lumina -Engine NOT turning over

My Lumina not starting..battery seem to be good...fuses good..all lights good. When I turn the key all I get is ignition lights...BUT WHEN I TURN THE KEY I HEAR LIKE A BELT OR FAN SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK JUST AS I TURN THE KEY....ALSO WHEN I TURN THE KEY THE CURRENT IS DRAGGED SO LOW THAT IF THE WIPERS ARE ON, THEY STOP..

your batter is probably shot. take it to a shop and have it load tested.

Re: 1990 Lumina -Engine NOT turning over

Thanks tblake, but I did have the battery tested..they told me the battery was good....WHILE HE WAS TESTING THE BATTERY HE SHOWED ME THE METER NEEDLE WENT TO 400.....NOT SURE WHAT THAT 400 WAS...!!!
IT SEEM TO BE A KIND OF SUDDEN FAULT BECAUSE I HAD JUST PARKED THE LUMINA IN THE GARAGE...AND JUST 3 MINUTES LATER, IT FAILED TO START..

Sounds like you have a bad starter or your starter wire is grounding out somewhere. Check the wires first.

I would agree that the starter is porbably shorted out, as long as all electrical connections are clean and tight.
